Product Recall Notice – Basing Sand

Please find below further information subsequent to the product announcement we released on Thursday, 5th February.
After carrying out tests on two of our products, we are announcing a recall for Moss Green and Atlantiko Blue Basing Sand. Having sought advice and support from the UK Government’s Office for Product Safety & Standards, we have the following information and instructions for anyone who has purchased or sells either of these products.

Product number: Moss Green TCF-BAS-010 & Atlantiko Blue TCF-BAS-007
Defect: The sand in this set may present a risk to health.
Hazard: The product presents a risk to health as the vials of sand may be contaminated with asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure. Health effects from asbestos generally occur many years after long-term inhalation of very small fibres. Testing to date indicates that there is Trace Asbestos Detected in some samples tested.
What to do (customers):
- Stop using the product immediately.
- If the sand is still in its packaging, place it in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double-tape it securely, label it clearly and store it in a secure location out of the reach of children until you can dispose of it.
- If the sand has been used, clean-up sites where the product was used using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a mask. Double-bag the sand, gloves, mask, and cloths, label clearly and store them in a secure location out of reach of children until you can dispose of them.
- Keep children and other people away from areas where the sand has been used until the area has been cleaned.
- Return the sand vials from the product to the store purchased from in person with proof of purchase for a full refund.
- If you are unable to physically get to the store you purchased from, please follow the instructions above and dispose of the sand in your general household waste. Contact aftercare@thecolourforge.com for a full refund.
- If you have models based with these products, we advise you to avoid exposure to them. Keep them in a secure location out of the reach of children, and contact our customer support at aftercare@thecolourforge.com.
What to do (retailers):
- Take the affected products off stock immediately.
- Inventory stock and place any affected sealed units in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double-tape them securely, label them clearly and store them in a secure location out of the reach of children until they can be disposed of.
- Contact sales@thewarhub.com to confirm quantities and arrange a credit to your account.
- Dispose of the sand in accordance with your local authority guidelines.
Out of an abundance of caution, we have also temporarily removed the remainder of our basing sand range from sale, through our website and retailers, whilst we carry out more extensive testing. We will, of course, provide further information on this and any further actions if they are required.
